Pannawonica

Landscape photography from the air really is the next best thing. I took this image on the way back from an aerial shoot over a power station near Karratha, and was lucky to have a pilot that was was keen for some sight seeing! This is Pannawonica Hill & the Robe River, just outside of the mining town Pannawonica. Not much to see in the town, but the scenery here is quite unique for the Pilbara, almost Monument Valley looking. I love the depth the light adds to this shot.

Heli Mustering Pilbara

Ok, I’ll admit this post has nothing to do with fine art photography! But it is blog-worthy because it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Pilbara Helicopters ( AKA Williambury Helicopters) asked me to shoot some new images for a new website and advertising. In between taking photos I got a few clips – I apologise in advance for dodgy hand held footage!

Seeing the Pilbara by air is stunning – it’s the best way to get around too. Flying at 240 km/h and the ability to land where ever you need, a helicopter is surely a photographers best friend!
