Power Station Shoot in the Pilbara

As much as I love shooting landscapes, industrial photography is a lot of fun and a great excuse to travel too. Recently I was asked to shoot a power station construction project in The Pilbara. The cool thing about this power station is that the heat generated from gas turbines, is recycled and captured to create electricity from a steam turbine – this is called the Heat Recovery Steam Generator. If that’s a bit technical, it just means this power station is really efficient!

Thanks to the team at AE&E for opting for professional photos (Engineers often think they are skilled photographers, sometimes this puts me out of work!)

Condamine Power Station

I’ve just finished off an industrial shoot of Condamine Power Station near Chinchilla in Qld. The client, AE&E required a library of images of the various components, as well as overall site shots from an EWP. The cloud cover was disappointing through the day, but the place really came to life on dusk when the lighting fired up. The second image is a panorama of 6 images, shot hand-held from an 80ft cherry picker swaying in the breeze. Amazingly photoshop stitched it up without a drama.
