More from the West

A few more highlights here from my recent trip to the Barcoo. Gotta love those outback skies – some stunning clouds and really vibrant sunsets. Comments and critique are appreciated!

  3. Hi Dan. I really like the first one too – I’ve just been playing around with colourful skies too for today’s post on my blog.

For the second image have you tried adding a gradient layer to make the clouds pop and intensify the scene a bit – or is that not the look you were going for?

Thanks Jo, I wasnt really after an ‘intense’ look for that second one, wanted something a bit softer and calm. Appreciate the feedback!

    • No worries 🙂
I’m just starting out in photography but I have an art background so I can see a great image, I just can;t quite translate it into my own camera yet!
Feedback is always appreciated on my images too. Especially from all you guys who are obviously way better than me!

  5. Classic outback shots, I really like your work Dan. Stunning popping colours in that first one, I think most people not having been to the outback would think that was overdone but these colours happen.

The second one I think could be explored a bit more for compositions, it is promising but I find the leading lines and composition a bit lacking – scene is great.

Thanks Flemming, appreciate your feedback mate! I agree on the composition, I’m new to stitching Pano’s and finding it hard to compose shots from multiple frames – much harder than composing a single frame anyway! Thanks again mate

  8. Hey Dan, Very nice! I was actually going to comment upon seeing the email version, that the sky was way overboard color-wise, but when I came to the website, the colors are much calmer, and so…nothing but kudos on both!
    Beautiful…

Thanks Harold – you’re my most reliable blog fan! Yes, strange things happen to colour when the shots go to email! I’m not colour-screen smart enough to know why though…

  9. Hey Dan, I like them both! If you slide over to my blog my header image is a bit like the bottom one, bit later in the day, and you may notice the Dozer that you inspired me to do with your fantastic heavy machinery ones. Good job!

    Cheers mate

I have to admit I love that first shot. The rich colours are amazing.
