A Snapshot of The Barcoo
Here’s a short clip I’ve put together from 5D MkII video and time lapse. The Barcoo shire is an area in western Queensland where you’ll find plenty of incredible scenery and very few people! Being a photographer dealing with video files and time lapse seems to be frustrating, but rewarding! This was a lot of fun to shoot, but definitely an eye opener into the epic world of time lapse and HD video. Click here to watch HD in Vimeo.

Outback Panos
Well, stitching panoramas is a new thing for me. Up until now it’s possible I was just too lazy, or didn’t have the right equipment. So here are the results of 4000 k’s on the road in western Qld, experimenting with the 5D2 and Nodal Ninja head. Shooting panoramas, you actually have to think about what your doing, no more point and shoot style! As always, feedback is appreciated!

Little shack in Windorah

The only thing better than photographing this little shack was meeting the bloke inside! One of those golden old characters of the outback, a retired drover, lived in this house his entire life. I loved hearing his life story and chatting about whatever, he didn’t take too well to the camera, and was determined I wouldn’t take his photograph! I wanted the image to look wild and intense, possibly overdone but it’s good to push the limits sometimes.

Brooding Storm | Longreach Qld
I’m always on the hunt for an image like this, and you’ve got to drive a fair distance to find a spot where the view is un-hindered for as far as you can see! So I guess you’d say I was fairly excited when we pulled up here with a storm brewing to the north. Had a few minutes where the sun decided to sneek through, and it just went pop!
5D2 & Nodal Ninja head, 6 images stitched in PS.

The Barcoo
Finally some new images to work with! I’ve just returned from a week in Western Queensland checking out places like Windorah, Jundah & Longreach. It was great to photograph some huge wide open spaces, and meet some classic characters too. If you can ever get out there I recommend it, only 14 hours drive from Brisbane… Here’s a couple of quick snaps, but stay tuned for more to come soon!
