Here’s a short clip I’ve put together from 5D MkII video and time lapse. The Barcoo shire is an area in western Queensland where you’ll find plenty of incredible scenery and very few people! Being a photographer dealing with video files and time lapse seems to be frustrating, but rewarding! This was a lot of fun to shoot, but definitely an eye opener into the epic world of time lapse and HD video. Click here to watch HD in Vimeo.

Recently I entered a collection of images into the Landscape 500 photography competition. This image from Longreach in outback Qld managed to score 10th place! There were some unbelievable photographs chosen in the top 10, congratulations to Jamie Nicolaou for his stunning Pilbara lightning shot which won the competition. Check it out here. Five other images I had entered scored silver, and three bronze.

For me this image really captures the feel of the stunning wide open spaces that can be found in Western Qld. Anywhere from Longreach to Birdsville scenes like this are a common sight – I hope it inspires you to get out there and experience some of the amazing scenes we have on our doorstep!

A scene near Birdsville in far western Qld. No grass or trees (or people!) to be seen for hundreds of K’s!!! I love these places, not exactly ‘picturesque’ but still awesome! I reckon I’d photograph places like this before beautiful beaches anyday. We passed this fence on the way through to the sand dunes in the Simpson Desert, I wonder why they bothered with the fence- no cattle, no feed, not much around! Shot on the old 5D with 17-40.
